MEADVILLE, Pa. – September 18, 2021 – The Chatham cross country teams traveled north to Meadville and took part in the Allegheny College Classic Saturday morning. The women placed sixth out of eight teams while the men claimed fifth out of seven squads, both getting two wins in the dual meets.
On the women's end, first-year
Clare Erwin was the top finisher at 19:51, good for 14
th place. Chatham placed two more in the top 40, including senior Esmée de Cortie's 32
nd place time of 21:27 and junior
Tresa Coon's 33
rd final time of 21:41.
The men's strongest showing was courtesy of first-year
Ethan Kelley, coming in at a 21
st-place time of 23:39. Six of the seven Cougars that ran placed in the top 40. Crossing in second was sophomore
Kristopher Longenecker at a 32
nd-place time of 24:43. Senior
Brett Seich placed 33
rd at 24:51, first-year
Jack Matics was 34
th with a 24:56 time, while classmates
Lane Macy and
Benjamin Brown finished 37
th at 25:56 and 38
th at 26:10, respectively.
There were four PAC teams that raced in the Allegheny Classic, including the Cougars, Geneva, Grove City and Thiel. In both races, Chatham finished third out of the four teams.
Chatham has the week off before heading to Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, October 2 for the Live in Lou Classic hosted by the University of Louisville.
