Softball Drops Two to Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - May 1, 2021 - Chatham Softball traveled to Westminster College this afternoon for the final doubleheader of the regular season. The Titans got the better of the Cougars in both games, first 6-0 and then 5-1.

The Titans scored one run in both the first and third innings before getting an additional four in the fourth to bury the Cougars.

The Cougars, however, did have five hits in game one. Lauren McNany had two singles, followed by Paige Shaftic and Kelsey Benjamin with one apiece. Caitlin Worwood had the sole double of the game, which was deep in center field.

In the circle, Kayla Gee tossed five strikeouts.

Westminster struck first again in game two with a one-run homer in the first before earning three more in the third.

Chatham got their only run of the day in the fifth inning when first-year Savanna Ahlborn singled to left center field, scoring Worwood.

Ahlborn would get a double in the top of the seventh for a game-high two hits. She was joined by Pitcher Julie Swedberg with two as well, and McNany and Shaftic had one each.

The Titans would manage one more run to take game two 5-1.

The Cougars' opponent heading into the post-season is yet to be determined, but updates will be made upon release by the PAC.
