Softball Enjoys Split at Grove City on Friday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 GROVE CITY, PA – April 27, 2018 – First-year pitcher/infielder Julie Swedberg (San Bruno, Calif./Capuchino) went 2-for-6 with two runs and one RBI while picking up the game two victory in the circle as the Chatham University softball team earned its second PAC win of 2018 on Friday at Grove City, splitting with the Wolverines.
 
RECORDS: Chatham moves to 4-24 (2-14 PAC) while Grove City is 7-17 (5-11 PAC).
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars conclude the regular season at W&J on Saturday, April 28, starting at 1 pm.
 
GAME ONE (Grove City 3, Chatham 2)
 
AT THE PLATE: The Cougars had eight hits from eight different players as Swedberg and sophomore Cassandra Gray (Allen Park, Mich./Allen Park) picked up the RBIs.
 
IN THE CIRCLE: First-year Taylor Wisvari-Weir (Martins Ferry, Ohio/The Linsly School) earned the start and went six innings, scattering 10 hits while allowing one run. Swedberg suffered the defeat in relief.
 
GAME TWO (Chatham 6, Grove City 2)
 
AT THE PLATE: Chatham enjoyed nine hits and a three-run third inning as sophomore Marissa Wightman (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.
 
Senior Samantha Crilley (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) and Gray also picked up RBIs.
 
IN THE CIRCLE: Swedberg earned her first win of her career, tossing all seven frames while fanning six Wolverines.
