Box Score 2 GREENVILLE, PA – April 21, 2018 – The Chatham University softball team dropped a doubleheader at Thiel on Saturday in PAC play, falling 8-5 in game one before losing 6-4 in game two.
RECORDS: Chatham now stands at 3-23 (1-13 PAC) while the Tomcats improve to 10-17 (5-6 PAC).
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars conclude the regular season next weekend, playing at Grove City on Friday, April 27 and at W&J on Saturday, April 28.
GAME ONE (Thiel 8, Chatham 5)
AT THE PLATE: The Cougar offense enjoyed 11 hits as senior
Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's) went 2-for-4 and sophomore
Tess Weaver (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) finished 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run.
First-year
Alexis Gonzalez (Riverside, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) and sophomore
Marissa Wightman (Cypress, Calif./Cypress) both drove in one run.
IN THE CIRCLE: First-year
Julie Swedberg (San Bruno, Calif./Capuchino) tossed six innings, scattering 11 hits while striking out five Tomcats.
GAME TWO (Thiel 6, Chatham 4)
AT THE PLATE: Chatham tallied seven hits, led by sophomore
Kassandra Deane (Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge Area), who finished 3-for-3 with a double, one RBI and one run.
Gonzalez and first-year Caitlin Woorwood (Caldwell, Idaho/Caldwell) both drove in one run.
IN THE CIRCLE: First-year
Taylor Wisvari-Weir (Martins Ferry, Ohio/The Linsly School) started and threw five innings with one strikeout. Swedberg pitched the final frame in relief.
