Softball Drops Both to Westminster on Wednesday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA – April 18, 2018 – The Chatham University softball team fell twice to visiting Westminster in PAC action on Wednesday evening, dropping game one, 10-0 (5 inn.) before losing the nightcap, 11-3 (6 inn.).
 
RECORDS: Chatham falls to 3-21 (1-11 PAC) while the Westminster Titans improve to 20-5 (11-0 PAC), winners of 18 straight games.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars will play at Grove City on Thursday, April 19 and at Thiel on Saturday, April 21.
 
GAME ONE (Westminster 10, Chatham 0 – 5 innings)
 
AT THE PLATE: Sophomore Cassandra Gray (Allen Park, Mich./Allen Park) broke up a no-hit bid in the bottom of the fifth with a pinch-hit single for the Cougars' lone base knock.
 
IN THE CIRCLE: First-year Julie Swedberg (San Bruno, Calif./Capuchino) suffered the loss, allowing just four earned runs while striking out three.
 
GAME TWO (Westminster 11, Chatham 3 – 6 innings)
 
AT THE PLATE: Sophomore Kassandra Deane (Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge Area) finished with two hits and an RBI while first-year Alexis Gonzalez (Riverside, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) went 2-for-3 with a double.
 
Gray drove in one run and sophomore Katie McClelland (Stoneboro, Pa./Lakeview) registered an RBI as the Cougars tallied six hits.
 
IN THE CIRCLE: First-year Taylor Wisvari-Weir (Martins Ferry, Ohio/The Linsly School) suffered the defeat while senior Samantha Crilley (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) appeared out of the bullpen.
