Cougars outlast Grizzlies 19-18

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – APRIL 15th, 2018 – The Cougars outlasted the Grizzlies of Franklin 19-18 this afternoon.
 
THE SHORT STORY
Although the Grizzlies were first on the board with a goal less than a minute in, the Cougars would control the pace of the game outscoring Franklin 12-8 in the first half. The second half saw 10 Grizzly goals to Chatham's seven. Franklin would tie the game late in the second half and pull ahead 18-15. The Cougars were able to find the back of the net four times in the final minutes to finish with the lead.
 
KEY COUGARS
Anna Prendergast scored the game winning goal in the final second of regulation converting on a free position shot. Prendergast finished with four goals and two assists. Sydney Collins led the team in goals with seven. Collins went 2-for-3 on free position shots, recorded eight draw controls, two ground balls and one assist. Kendra McBroom registered four goals, one assist and seven draw controls in the win. Madison Black netted two goals adding one assist, five draw controls, and three ground balls. Jenifer McLaren and Sydney Isbell each tallied one goal. McLaren recorded two assists, four ground balls and five draw controls. Tara Riley and Maria Cefola finished with three ground balls a piece. Cefola, in the net for the Cougars, registered 16 saves. Michelle Jones earned three caused turnovers.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
