Box Score 2 PITTSBURGH, PA – April 12, 2018 – The Chatham University softball team earned its first PAC victory of the 2018 season on Thursday night at West Field versus Geneva, as the Cougars took game one 3-2 before falling 6-0 in game two.
RECORDS: Chatham is now 3-17 (1-7 PAC) while the Golden Tornadoes move to 9-11 (1-5 PAC).
WHAT'S NEXT: The Cougars will host Bethany on Saturday, April 14 at 1 pm for Senior Day.
GAME ONE (Chatham 3, Geneva 2)
AT THE PLATE: Senior
Samantha Crilley (Zelienople, Pa./Seneca Valley) finished 2-for-3 with a triple and first-year
Paige Shaftic (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) went 2-for-2 as the Cougars tallied 10 hits.
Senior
Kasandra Petersen (Faribault, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's), sophomore
Kassandra Deane (Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge Area) and sophomore
Cassandra Gray (Allen Park, Mich./Allen Park) all drove in one run each.
IN THE CIRCLE: Sophomore
Madison Howell (Huntington, W.V./Huntington) earned her third win of the spring, going the distance while striking out four.
GAME TWO (Geneva 6, Chatham 0)
AT THE PLATE: Chatham totaled six hits as first-year
Alexis Gonzalez (Riverside, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) went 2-for-3.
First-year
Caitlin Worwood (Caldwell, Idaho/Caldwell), first-year
Julie Swedberg (San Bruno, Calif./Capuchino) and Howell all collected a base hit.
IN THE CIRCLE: Swedberg pitched the entirety, allowing four earned runs while striking out four Golden Tornadoes.
