A strong second half not enough as Chatham falls to Thiel

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – MARCH 21st, 2018 – The Cougars came back from a 10 point deficit in the second half before ultimately falling 26-24 at Thiel.
 
THE SHORT STORY
Thiel was first to score netting three goals in the first four minutes. Chatham would answer back with three goals of their own. Ten minutes into the game, the score was 6-4. The Tomcats would go on a six goal scoring streak but the Cougars would find the back of the net five more times before the end of the half. At halftime, Thiel would hold a 14-9 edge. In the final 30 minutes, Chatham would outscore Thiel 15-12. The Cougars scored nine unanswered goals to tie the game 19-19 with 12 minutes remaining. The Tomcats pulled ahead 25-20 with seven minutes left. Chatham did not let down and would score four more goals to cut that deficit to 25-24. In the final 90 seconds, Thiel would score one final goal.
 
KEY COUGARS
Sydney Collins registered a team high seven goals with one assist, five ground balls, and three draw controls. Kendra McBloom tallied six goals, one assist and a team high 17 draw controls. Anna Prendergast recorded four goals, two assists, six ground balls and four caused turnovers. Jenifer McLaren finished with three goals, two ground balls, two caused turnovers and 10 draw controls. Kristina Block added two goals and two ground balls. Lauren Singer and Danielle Bos each scored one goal.

Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
