Chatham opens up inaugural season against Juniata

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – FEBRUARY 24th, 2018 – Chatham fell 13-9 to Juniata in the opening game of the 2018 inaugural season.
 
THE SHORT STORY
The Cougars were first on the board scoring two goals in the first two minutes. Kendra McBroom scored the first goal in Chatham program history. Jenifer McLaren put the ball in the back of the net thirty seconds later off an assist from Kendra McBroom. Juniata answered back with a goal of their own before going on a four goal scoring run. The game was tied 5-5 with five minutes left in the first half. In the final minute, the Eagles scored three goals to give them a 9-5 edge over Chatham at the end of the first half. In the final thirty minutes, the Cougars were unable to come back from their four point deficit.
 
KEY COUGARS
Kendra McBroom scored a team high three goals. McBroom added four ground balls and three caused turnovers. Sydney Collins netted two goals with one assist. Kristina Block, Jenifer McLaren, Danielle Bos and Anna Prendergast each chipped in one goal. Block and Bos collected three ground balls apiece. McLaren and Bos led the Cougars in shots with six. Prendergast and Bos won four and three draw controls respectively. Maria Cefola was in goal for Chatham with thirteen saves.

Chatham will add women's lacrosse beginning play in 2017-2018. Chatham has added five men's sports competing this academic year: baseball, basketball, cross country, swimming & diving, track & field. Chatham will add two more men's varsity sports beginning play in 2017-2018; ice hockey and lacrosse.
