Cougars Win in Overtime

Box Score MARLBOROUGH, MASS (November 29, 2015) In a game that Chatham (2-4-0, 0-4-0 ECAC West) dominated statistically, it took overtime in game two of the series versus Becker (1-7-0, 1-4-0 Colonial) for the Cougars to complete the sweep.

After three periods of play, Chatham had nearly doubled Becker in shots, outshooting the Ice Hawks 35-18. However, in overtime, it only took one shot for the Cougars to seal the deal. With 3:31 left in overtime, junior defenseman Kaitlyn Perrins snapped a hard wrist shot from the blue line to find the back of the net and give the Cougars a 1-0 victory.

Freshman forward Kristina Block tallied her first career point assisting Perrins on the goal.

Once again, sophomore goalie Kasandra Petersen and the penalty kill unit for the Cougars were outstanding. Petersen stopped all 18 shots she face in net to pick up not only her first career win, but her first career shutout as well.

As for the penalty kill, Chatham went unscathed going a perfect 10-for-10 on the kill.

With momentum on its side, Chatham looks to continue its roll and add on to its two game winning streak next weekend when the Cougars travel to Geneva, NY to end the semester against the William Smith Herrons. Puck drop for game one on Saturday December 5 is 7:30 pm.
