Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. - (9/30/2014) – The Chatham University soccer team beat Penn State – Greater Allegheny 4 – 1 at Varsity Field. On a day that started overcast and rain soaked, Carson the Cougar watched with Chatham faithful as first year midfielder
Megan Sieg (Pittsburgh, Pa.) rang up three goals against the Lions.
Senior goalkeeper
Liz Sawyer (Saco, Me.) made four saves on five shots taken by PSGA. The Lions scored only once at (27:55). Throughout the remainder of the game, aggressive presses into the Lions end of the field and deft passing by Chatham kept the focus of play away from Sawyer.
Sieg put Chatham on the scoreboard first (1:14), off passes by sophomore forward Fiorella Nicoloso (Sarasota, Fl.), and sophomore forward
Skylar Benjamin (Strongsville, Oh.), her second goal would come at (12:33) (unassisted), and her third goal rushed passed the Lions goal keeper at (55:51), assisted again by Nicoloso. Sieg now has (10) goals on the season.
Multiple Cougars had shots on goal today with junior midfielder
Auralia Henderson (Palmyra, Pa.) taking two, Benjamin earning three, and senior midfielder
Sarah Ellis (Lawrence, Pa.), with four this afternoon.
Sieg believes the team is finding their rhythm, "We need to work harder at getting back on defense, and look to improve our ball movement."
Third year coach
Betsy Warren said the victory was a good finish to the teams non-conference play. " We were able to move some players around today, and had some good chances to make goals."
Chatham will host St. Vincent College on Saturday October 4th at 1:00 p.m.
