Benjamin's Late Goal Forces 1-1 Tie with Thiel

Box Score PITTSBURGH, PA – Skylar Benjamin scored from just shy of midfield with 2:19 remaining in regulation to force overtime, and the Chatham Cougars and Thiel Tomcats played to a 1-1 tie in double overtime on Wednesday.

Morgan Berg got Thiel (7-9-1, 1-6-1 PAC) on the board in the 26th minute to give them a 1-0 lead. In a frantic final five minutes of regulation, Benjamin stole an errant pass near midfield and found the back of the net.

Benjamin led Chatham (1-14-1, 0-7-1 PAC) with nine shots and six shots on goal. Auralia Henderson tallied two shots. Carolyn Bristow, Ashley Lamb, and Becca Pell each recorded one. Chatham out-shot Thiel 14-12 for the game. Liz Sawyer made seven saves in net.

Chatham honored their three seniors before the game: Lamb, Lindsey Matusak, and Savannah Moon.

The Cougars wrap-up the 2013 regular season on Saturday, November 2, when they host PAC foe Westminster College at 3:00pm.
