PITTSBURGH Pa. – The Chatham men's soccer (0-3-2, 0-0-1 PAC) team and the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets (2-1-2, 0-0-1 PAC) fought to a 1-1 tie at UPMC Graham Field on Wednesday evening in the conference opener for both squads.
The scoring started early with
Bennett Haas putting the Cougars up 1-0 12 minutes into the game for his first of the season, and the lead would be held for the rest of the first half. Waynesburg would tie the game in the 58th minute.
The Chatham defense worked hard in the second half, conceding 8 corner kicks to the Yellow Jackets in the half, for a total of 11. On a humid evening, Chatham relied heavily on rotation, with defender
Francis LaBarbera being the only outfield player for the Cougars to play all 90 minutes.
The Cougars tallied 8 total shots on goal, their highest in a game this season and the most in their last 10 games dating back to October of last year. It was also tied for the fewest shots on goal allowed of this season with senior goalkeeper

Men's soccer will play their next match this Saturday September 19th at 1:00 PM for their inaugural meeting with the Saint Francis Red Wolves in Loretto.
