MEADVILLE, Pa. - On Wednesday, the Cougars (8-3, 4-1) traveled to Meadville for a midweek match up of 2025 PAC playoff teams as they squared off with the Allegheny Gators (2-7, 1-3). The Cougars jumped out to an early lead and the game was never close as the Cougars completed their second straight shutout for the first time in program history, winning 15-0.
In the first quarter, the Cougars jumped out to an early lead as
Bella Walski-Rodriguez scored her 24th goal of the season assisted by
Sara Kaesshaefer just 22 seconds into the game. The next goal would not be scored until just over four minutes remained in the quarter. This time it was
Natalie Ondo scoring her first goal of the game, 18th of the season, assisted by
Rachel Luomala. That put the Cougars ahead 2-0 heading into the second quarter.
The second quarter was quite similar to the first, the Cougars scored two goals.
Campbell Murphy netted her 9th goal of the season unassisted to get the Cougars back on the board for the first time in over 15 minutes of game action. She followed that up just 35 seconds later scoring on a free position goal for her tenth goal of the season and second of the day. That gave the Cougars a 4-0 lead at halftime.
The third quarter is where the Cougars offense started to roll. Just 75 seconds into the second half,
Sara Kaesshaefer entered the box score once again, this time scoring her first goal of the game, 19th of the season, assisted by
Campbell Murphy on the player advantage.
Natalie Ondo followed that with her second goal of the day, 19th of the season, on a free position shot. Following her, also scoring her second goal of the game, 25th of the season, was
Bella Walski-Rodriguez scoring on an assist from Ondo on the player advantage. Just a few minutes later Walski-Rodriguez returned the favor assisting on
Natalie Ondo's hat trick goal and her 20th of the season. Just a few minutes after that, the pair linked up again as Ondo scored her 21st goal of the season and fourth of the game. That gave the Cougars a 9-0 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
The Cougars did not relent in the fourth quarter, scoring a game high six goals in the period. It got started with
Marcella Valentine scoring her 11th goal of the season, first of the day, on a free position shot less than one minute into the quarter. Just 64 seconds later,
Natalie Ondo scored her fifth goal of the game and her 22nd of the season, assisted by
Campbell Murphy. A couple minutes later,
Sarah Holt found the back of the net for the first time in the game and her 10th of the season, she was assisted by
Marcella Valentine. Valentine followed that with her second goal of the game, 12th of the season, scored on a free position shot while on the player advantage.
Madison Kata decided she wanted to join the goal party with slightly over five minutes to play in the game scoring her seventh goal of the season, first of the game, assisted by
Campbell Murphy while Allegheny was on the player advantage.
Sarah Holt closed out the game scoring her second goal of the game, 11th of the season, assisted by
Madison Kata while Allegheny was on the player advantage once again.
The Cougars were led offensively by
Natalie Ondo's six points (5G 1A).
Campbell Murphy (2G 3A) and
Bella Walski-Rodriguez (2G 2A) also recorded more than three points. Murphy also led the Cougars with seven ground balls, seven caused turnovers and six draw controls.
Meghan Cuza-Berry picked up her eighth win of the season, saving the only shot on goal she faced, a free position shot.
The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday April 11th when they travel to Geneva for a 5 PM start.
