BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - On Saturday, the Cougars (9-3, 5-1 PAC) traveled to Beaver Falls for a match up with the Geneva Golden Tornadoes (1-13, 0-6 PAC). The Cougars instantly took control and were able to run away with the game cruising to a 22-1 victory.
The Cougars scored just 27 seconds into the game when
Natalie Ondo scored her first goal of the game, 23rd of the season, assisted by
Marcella Valentine.That was followed just a couple minutes later by Maidson Kata scoring her first goal of the game, eighth of the season, assisted by
Bella Walski-Rodriguez while a player down. Kata followed with her second goal of the game, ninth of the season, unassisted.
Natalie Ondo then scored her second goal of the game, assisted by
Campbell Murphy. Murphy also assisted on the next Cougars score, this time it was
Bella Walski-Rodriguez scoring her first goal of the day, 26th of the season. Walski-Rodriguez then scored her second goal of the day, 27th of the season, unassisted on the player advantage. Walski-Rodriguez then scored her third straight goal, 28th of the season, also unassisted. Tpo end her four goal run Walski-Rodriguez scored her fourth goal of the game, 29th of the season, assisted by
Sofia Hoetzlein-Sirman. That gave the Cougars an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter it was more of the same,
Natalie Ondo once again opened the scoring, completing her hat trick with her 25th goal of the season, assisted by
Rachel Luomala.
Madison Kata followed, completing her hat trick with her 10th goal of the season, assisted by
Sofia Hoetzlein-Sirman.
Rachel Luomala then got in on the scoring with her first goal of the day, eighth of the season, assisted by
Madison Kata. Sofia Hoetzlein Sirman finally scored a goal of her own, her first of the game and second of the season, assisted by
Izzy Davanti.
Samantha Orr decided to add her name to the list of goal scorers next with her third of the season, assisted by
Marcella Valentine.
Madison Kata ended the Cougars scoring for the second quarter with her fourth goal of the game, 11th of the season, unassisted. That gave the Cougars a 14-0 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Cougars continued to score.
Bella Walski-Rodriguez scored her fifth goal of the game, 30th of the season, unassisted to start the half.
Madison Kata, trying to keep up, scored her fifth goal of the game, 12th of the season, unassisted.
Rachel Luomala then scored her second goal of the game, ninth of the season, assisted by
Sara Kaesshaefer.
Sarah Holt scored the Cougars 18th goal of the game, her first of the game and 12th of the season, assisted by
Rachel Luomala.
Izzy Davanti closed out the Cougars scoring in the third quarter with her first goal of the day, eighth of the season, assisted by
Madison Kata. That gave the Cougars a 19-0 lead at the end of the third quarter.
To start the fourth quarter,
Rachel Luomala completed her hat trick, scoring her 10th goal of the season, unassisted. Bella Walski-Roriguez scored one last goal for good measure, her sixth of the day, 31st of the season, assisted by
Kendall Foster. The Golden Tornadoes finally got on the board as they converted on their first shot attempt of the day. That was all they would get as
Sarah Doherty scored her first goal of the game, second of the season, unassisted to close it out. That gave the Cougars a 22-1 lead they held to the end.
The Cougars were led offensively by
Bella Walski-Rodriguez (6G 1A) and
Madison Kata (4G 2A) who recorded seven points each. Rachel Loumala (3G 2A) also recorded five points. Luomala also led the Cougars with seven draw controls.
Sofia Hoetzlein-Sirman recorded a team high three caused turnovers, raising her season total to 30.
Marcella Valentine recorded a team high five ground balls.
Meghan Cuza-Berry picked up her ninth win of the season, without facing a single shot.
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday April 15th when they host Thiel at 7 PM.
