Men's Volleyball to Visit Bearcats in PAC Semifinal

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After defeating sixth-seeded Geneva in the PAC Tournament Quarterfinal, #3 Chatham Men's Volleyball (15-8, 8-4 PAC) will head to #2 seed Saint Vincent (14-4, 10-2) for a PAC Semifinal matchup.

The Cougars and Bearcats have met twice in the past month. On March 14 in Latrobe, Saint Vincent defeated Chatham in straight sets. The Cougars' Tim McCabe and Bearcats' Shawn McSwiggen each tallied 12 kills in that contest. In the teams' most recent matchup on March 28 in Pittsburgh, McCabe's career-high 26 kills and 5 blocks led Chatham to a 3-1 victory. Derek Paul contributed 16 kills on .375 hitting with 11 digs, RJ Nagg had 53 assists and 11 digs, and Ben Shelestak racked up 14 kills for the Cougars in the win.

Saint Vincent ranks first in the PAC kills per set (11.95) and is second in blocks per set (2.10), hitting percentage (.230), and aces per set (1.77). McSwiggen (3.64) and Zebadiah Wyant (3.44) rank second and third in the conference in kills per set. Wyant also leads the PAC in aces (0.56 aces/set). Defensively, Braedan Artman is fourth in blocks per set with 0.90.

The matchup will feature the top two setters in the PAC. Jack Ryan leads the conference in assists per set with 9.70, while Chatham's RJ Nagg ranks second with 9.50 assists per set. The Cougars' Tim McCabe will be relied upon heavily again, as conference's leader in kills per set (3.94) has paced Chatham in the kill department for 14 consecutive matches.

The winner of the match will advance to the PAC Tournament Final on Saturday against the winner of #1 Thiel vs #5 Hiram.

Thursday's match at the Robert S. Carey Center is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
