PITTSBURGH, Pa. – After knocking off second-seeded Saint Vincent in the PAC Tournament Semifinal, #3 Chatham Men's Volleyball (16-8, 8-4 PAC) is set to visit #1 seed Thiel (22-8, 11-1) in the PAC Men's Volleyball Championship Match on Saturday night at Beeghly Gymnasium.
The Cougars and Tomcats have faced off twice in 2026. Chatham claimed the first set in the teams' meeting on Feb. 28 in Pittsburgh, but ultimately dropped the match 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-21).
Tim McCabe led all players in kills with 17 on .400 hitting, while
Ben Shelestak tallied 11 kills,
Derek Paul contributed 9 kills and 12 digs, and
Jordan Haas recorded 6 kills and 3 blocks. In the most recent matchup between the teams on March 25, Thiel captured another 3-1 (25-15, 25-18, 17-25, 25-23) victory. McCabe notched another match-high 17 kills on .333 hitting with 10 digs in that contest.
Ben Shelestak registered 12 kills, a match-high 4 blocks and 7 digs.
Derek Paul had 9 kills,
John Gasiorowski racked up a match-high 13 digs and
RJ Nagg dished out a match-high 36 assists for the Cougars.
The Tomcats pace the PAC in hitting percentage (.274) and service aces (1.84 aces/set). They rank second in the conference in kills (11.94 k/s) and third in blocks (2 blocks/set). Their attack features the top two players in hitting percentage in the PAC with Kaleb Proudfoot (.455) and Bryce Lizanich (.408). Thiel's Ezra Oesterling leads the conference with 0.60 aces per set.
Chatham's
Tim McCabe remains the PAC leader in kills per set by a wide margin with 3.97. The Cougars will look toward
John Gasiorowski (5th in PAC – 2.34 digs/set) and
Armani George (6th in PAC – 0.81 blocks/set) to stave off the Tomcats' attack. Chatham's stellar defense is a primary reason it has reached the Championship, as it ranks first in the conference in kills allowed (10/set), as well as second in team digs (12.15/set), aces allowed (1.04/set) and opponent hitting percentage (.156).
Saturday night's opening serve in Greenville is scheduled for 6 p.m.
