Cipollone, Murphy and Walski-Rodriguez Named PAC Athletes of the Week

TRAFFORD, Pa. - On Monday, the Presidents' Athletic Conference announced their newest set of weekly awards, among the lacrosse players recognized were three Cougars. James Cipollone was named the PAC Defensive Player of the Week on the men's side for the second time this season while Campbell Murphy was named the PAC Midfielder of the Week and Bella Walski-Rodriguez was named the PAC Newcomer of the Week for the fourth time.

Cipollone was named PAC Defensive Player of the week for the second time this season, previously on March 2nd. Cipollone made two starts for the Cougars last week making 13 saves and having a .619 save rate. He started the week with a 12-save performance leading the Cougars to a 15-7 win at Saint Vincent, making nine of 12 saves in the second half and allowing the Cougars to outscore Saint Vincent 9-4 after halftime, he also scooped two ground balls. In Chatham's 32-1 win against Thiel, Cipollone made one save before being replaced at halftime. His impact was felt however when he scored his first career goal late in the second quarter, he once again picked up a pair of ground balls and added a caused turnover. 

Campbell was named the PAC Midfielder of the Week for the first time this season after recording 12 draw controls, 10 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. In the 15-0 shutout over Allegheny, Murphy recorded seven ground balls, a new single-game record seven caused turnovers and six draw controls. She also posted two goals and three assists, tying her career high point total with five. In the Cougars' game against Geneva, Murphy recorded six draw controls, three ground balls and one caused turnover to go with two assists in a 22-1 win.

Walski-Rodriguez was named the PAC Newcomer of the Week for the fourth time this season, previously on February 23rd, March 16th, and March 23rd. Walski-Rodriguez recorded eight goals and three assists for a team high 11 points. At Allegheny, she tallied two goals and two assists for four points and also recorded two ground balls in the 15-0 win. She followed that with a dominant performance at Geneva where she recorded six goals and one assist for seven points. Walski-Rodriguez scored four consecutive goals to close out an 8-0 first-quarter advantage. She scored her six goals on just nine shots, eight on goal.

Cipollone and the Men's Lacrosse team will be back in action on Wednesday April 15th when they travel to Hiram for a 6 PM start.

Murphy, Walski-Rodriguez and the Women's Lacrosse Team will be back in action on Wednesday April 15th when they host Thiel at 7 PM.
