Baseball Rolls Against Amcats, Improves to 7-1

AUBURNDALE, Fl. – Chatham Baseball (7-1, 0-0 PAC) continued an impressive start to the 2026 season by defeating Anna Maria (2-2, 0-0 MASCAC) 10-1 on Tuesday evening.
 
The Cougars struck in the first inning, first on a wild pitch before Hayden Woodward's RBI double made it 2-0 Chatham. The Cougars tacked on 3 more in the fifth via an Eddie Rueda RBI single and another Woodward RBI hit, then Nolan Boehm crossed the plate on an error. Woodward would bring in another Chatham run in the seventh to make it 6-0 on an RBI single. After allowing the only Amcat run in the bottom of the eighth, the Cougars scored the remainder of their runs in the ninth. Angelo DeLeonardis scored on an error, Sean Kelley and Devin Fluhmann walked to bring runs in, and Zane Pollack took a hit by pitch to bring the 10th Chatham run across the plate.
 
Cooper Baxter turned in another strong start for the Cougars on the mound, earning the win after tossing 5 1/3 shutout innings while allowing 6 hits and a walk with 2 strikeouts. Ethan Botkin, Riley Baum and Garrett Blosser also turned in shutout innings out of the bullpen, combining for 7 strikeouts. At the plate, Woodward was 3-4 with 3 RBIs and drew a walk. Pollack went 3-4 with an RBI, a HBP and scored. DeLeonardis drew 3 walks and crossed the plate 3 times, and Kelley drew 3 walks with an RBI for Chatham.
 
The Cougars will get two days of rest before returning to action on Friday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Elms at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fl.
