Softball Picked to Finish Eleventh in Preseason Poll

TRAFFORD, PA - On Friday, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released the preseason poll for softball and players to watch. The Cougars were picked to finish eleventh in the conference.

The Cougars were picked to finish eleventh out of the 12 teams in the PAC after having received a total of 28 points in the poll. They missed out on the PAC Championship Tournament last year, finishing tenth in the PAC in 2025 with a 6-14 conference record and 14-26 overall. They look to continue to further improve their record this year. 

Five Cougars made the PAC Players to Watch list this year. They are 1B/P Tori Cavanaugh, 3B/P Madi Gorney, SS Wren Martin, P/2B Victoria Murren, and 2B/OF Chelsea Stabile.

Both Cavanaugh and Gorney will be entering their first season with the Cougars this Spring. 

Entering her third season with the Cougars, Martin, played in 27 games last season. She batted .313, scoring 19 runs, and helping out with 6 RBIs. In the field she had 33 POs and another 56 assists. 

Murren enters her senior season with the Cougars as a key member on the mound. After playing in every game last season, she contributed to just under half of the Cougars wins last season (6). She recorded an ERA of 4.60 off 97.1 IP and struck out 93 batters. 

Stablie, also entering her senior season as a Cougar, played in every game as well last season. She batted .229, scoring 20 runs, and contributing with another 9 RBIs. In the field, Stabile recorded a .915 FLD% with 35 POs. 

The Cougars start their season on Sunday, March 1st at 9 AM when they head down South to Clermont, FL to kick off Spring Break week against Neumann University.
