2026 Women's Lacrosse Season Preview

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Chatham Women's Lacrosse team is coming off their first PAC Championship Game appearance and have won postseason games for the second season in a row, and despite losing eight seniors from last year's team, fourth year head coach Morgan Comport acknowledges the change but looks forward to the team this year.

"We had eight seniors last season who left a lasting impact on our program, both on and off the field," Comport said. "We're incredibly grateful for their commitment and the role they played in helping us take a significant step forward. Every season brings a new dynamic, and for us, it's less about filling a hole and more about evolving. This group has embraced the opportunity to build its own standard and continue pushing the program forward through their camaraderie, faith, and relentless work ethic."

In 2025 the Cougars set a myriad of program records; wins (11), PAC wins (7), goals (231), assists (119), points (350), draw controls (258), assists in a game (14), longest winning streak (4).

Comport enters her fourth season at the helm of the Cougars with a 31-20 overall record and a 19-8 record in PAC play. The Cougars have had ten or more wins in each of her first three seasons, the only seasons of ten or more wins in program history.

Last season's success has helped further the team's belief in their process. The 2025 team started the season 0-3 and was able to bounce back going 11-4 over their final 15 games including two different four game winning streaks. Coach Comport explained how the team can learn from that.

"Last season reinforced that success is built on discipline, trust, and faith," Comport said. "Our best performances came when we trusted our preparation, communicated with purpose, and stayed disciplined in high-pressure moments. Wins don't define us, challenges don't shake us, and we're excited to watch this team bring that standard to the field every single game."

Despite the losses from last season the team that starts their season on February 18th gives Comport reasons to be excited about the upcoming season.

"I'm most excited about the energy and the drive this group brings every day," Comport said. "We have returning leaders and a freshman class that's hungry to make an impact. There's a real sense of unity, grit, and faith guiding this team, and I can't wait to see how they translate that into action on the field."

The Cougars begin their season on February 18th when they travel to New Concord, Ohio for a 5 PM start time against Muskingum.
