BEREA, Ohio – Chatham Men's Basketball (6-4, 1-1 PAC) defeated Baldwin Wallace (3-9, 1-3 OAC) 62-55 on Saturday afternoon in their final non-conference game of the season.
Sophomore
Sam Norfleet IV led the Cougars in scoring with 14 points on 4-6 from the field, knocking down all six of his free throw attempts. Senior
Jake TenBerge netted 11 points and pull down 7 boards. Junior
Drew Vizenor scored 11 points via a game-high 3 three-point baskets and had 5 rebounds. Senior
Lovenson Xavier recorded 9 points, 2 steals, and a block for Chatham.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first 5 points of the game before the Cougars took the lead on a 7-0 run via 5 points from
Diaun Pinkett. An ensuing 7-1 Baldwin Wallace run put them up 12-8, then three-pointers from TenBerge and Vizenor gave Chatham a 21-14 advantage. The Yellow Jackets kept battling back and knotted the score at 24. Layups from Xavier and Vizenor in the final minute of the half gave the Cougars a 4-point cushion at the break.
In the first four minutes of the second half,
Zach Genther drained two triples and Vizenor also knocked down a shot from deep the push the Chatham lead to 41-28. The Cougars would go up by as much as 15 with 11 minutes to play, and an
Easton Fulmer three-point basket made the score 51-37 with 8 minutes remaining. Baldwin Wallace crept back into the game with a 13-5 scoring run to get within 6, and cut its deficit to 60-55 with 25 seconds left. Chatham was able to lock down on defense and hold off the Yellow Jackets with the help of 6 Norfleet IV points in the final minute of the game.
The Cougars held an opponent under 60 points for the first time this season, and Baldwin Wallace's 33.3 percent shooting (20-60) was the lowest shooting percentage by a Chatham opponent in 2025-26. The Yellow Jackets were also held to 16.7 percent from beyond the arc (5-30), the lowest three-point percentage from a Cougar opponent this campaign. The Chatham offense went 21 for 54 from the field (38.9%). Its 30.8 percent three-point percentage (8-26) was its lowest since Nov. 12.
The Cougars will host Waynesburg at 7 p.m. on Wednesday to open their home PAC slate.
