Xavier Powers Men's Basketball over Yellow Jackets

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Chatham Men's Basketball (7-4, 2-1 PAC) captured their second conference win of the young season by toppling Waynesburg (4-10, 0-3) by a final score of 98-73.
 
Senior Lovenson Xavier put up a dominant performance, scoring 32 points with 8 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. The Naples, Fl. native knocked down the second-most field goals in program history, going 13-17 from the field and 6-9 from three-point range. Senior Jake TenBerge netted 14 points for Chatham on 5-8 shooting with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and steals. Senior Easton Fulmer shot 3-6 from deep, finishing with 13 points. Senior Diaun Pinkett recorded 10 points, a game-high 5 assists, 5 boards and a game-high 3 steals. Junior Drew Vizenor buried both of his three-point attempts, scoring 8 points with 4 assists and 4 boards. Sophomore Sam Norfleet IV aided in the Cougars' big offensive day with 5 points and a game-high 5 assists.
 
Xavier eclipsed 1,000 collegiate points 13 seconds into the contest with a reverse layup. He then helped Chatham race out to a 20-4 advantage, scoring 15 points in the first 5 minutes of the contest. Three-point baskets from Norfleet IV, Fulmer, Vizenor, and Xavier within a two minute span put the Cougars ahead 39-20. TenBerge and Pinkett would get in on the three-point party before the half was over, and Chatham led by 12 at the intermission.
 
TenBerge netted 7 points within a minute at the beginning of the second half for a 56-40 Cougar lead. After the Yellow Jackets made the score 68-53 with 12 minutes left on the clock, Chatham went on a 9-0 scoring run with the help of 5 more Xavier points to put the game out of reach. Consecutive Fulmer triples gave the Cougars their biggest lead at 26 points with five minutes remaining. Filippo Bellini scored 4 points in the final two minutes to put an exclamation point on the rout.
 
Chatham's 57.6 percent shooting percentage (38-66) and 52.9 percent three-point percentage (18-34) were both season highs. The Cougars' six attempted free throws were their fewest since Dec. 20, 2022. Waynesburg's 42.3 percent three-point shooting (11-26) was the second-highest allowed by Chatham in 2025-26.
 
The Cougars will attempt to take down Thiel for their third consecutive win on Saturday at the Athletic and Fitness Center at 2 p.m.
