PITTSBURGH, PA. - The Chatham women's soccer team is flying high right now as they secured their first win of the season at home against the Pitt-Bradford Panthers this afternoon.
The Cougars came alive today in a blowout 6-0 game against the Panthers. It didn't take long for the Cougars to find the back of the net, and once they started there was no stopping them.
Three different Cougars found the back of the net in the first half. Senior
Halle Marsalis struck first only 3 minutes into the game. After her, followed sophomore
Elizabeth Gallup, sophomore
Jorjanne Seaman, and then Gallup again to close out the half.
It didn't take long for Gallup to strike again, and earn a hat-trick, as she scored her third goal three minutes into the second half. Marsalis would come back full circle and close out the scoring for the Cougars. Falling behind Gallup and Marsalis's five shots on goals each were sophomores
Kaitlyn Valentic and
Maddy Bailey.
Sophomore goalkeepers
Kyanni Escudero and
Hannah Boor split the clean sheet where they only saw six shots on goal for the day.
Senior forward
Ainsley Smith found a way to secure points by earning half of the assists on the goals today.
The Cougars look to carry over this energy as they head into their next game against the Carlow Celtics on Saturday, September 10th. They'll play at home, UPMC Graham Field with a kickoff time of 7PM.
