DAVENPORT, FL. – Chatham Baseball (6-6, 0-0 PAC) split the final doubleheader of their trip to central Florida on Saturday against Russell Sage College (2-1, 0-0 EMPIRE8).
The Cougars went down early in game one, allowing a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly before giving up 6 runs in the second. The Gators' Joe Degroot shut down the Chatham offense, allowing no runs on four hits in his six innings of work. The Cougars came through with three hits in the seventh inning to put 2 runs on the board, but it was not enough as the Gators came away with the six-run victory. 
Angelo DeLeonardis' single plated Dominic Obiecunis, and 
Eddie Rueda's double scored 
Jason Boller in the final inning.
Rueda was 2-4 with an RBI, DeLeonardis went 1-4 with an RBI, and Obiecunis finished the first game 1-1 at the plate with a double and a run scored. 
Cooper Baxter allowed one earned run on five hits in his 4 1/3 innings on the mound.
Russell Sage began game two with the lead when they scored a run in the second inning. Chatham came back to grab the lead via a 
Peter Tadic RBI single in the bottom of the second inning and DeLeonardis crossing the plate on a passed ball in the third. A Gator solo home run knotted the game at 2-2 before 
Ty Blackburn's double scored Tadic in the fourth to make it a 3-2 game. Russell Sage proceeded to score 2 runs in the fifth inning and another run in the sixth, giving them a 5-3 advantage. The Cougars would come back once again, however, when 
Cooper Baxter scored on a wild pitch and Rueda drove in Blackburn in the bottom of the sixth to even the score at 5-5. After three scoreless innings, Chatham loaded the bases in the bottom of the tenth, when Rueda walked the game off with an RBI single that scored Blackburn.
Rueda was 3-5 with RBI. Tadic went 3-5 at the plate with an RBI and scored a run. 
Ty Blackburn finished 1-4 with a run scored. 
Ethan Botkin earned the win, allowing no hits or runs in his 5 innings on the mound with 5 strikeouts.
Chatham is back on the field on Tuesday at 3 p.m.at Wooster in Ohio.
