Squash Ends Day 2 of PA State Championships with One Win

LANCASTER, PA - It was Day 2 fo the PA State Championship out in Lancaster where the men's squash team (2-3) split on the day while the women's squash team (0-4) fell in both matches.

The Cougars were up bright and early this morning for their match against Haverford College (M(0-3), W(1-2)). On the men's side, they pulled away with an easy 7-2 win. Sebastian Vaca Sanchez, Agustin CarranzaMuhammad Hassaan Raza, and Alejandro Cruz all swept their opponents 3-0. Abdelrahman Sadek and Obed Roman Garcia took their opponents to four matches and were able to pul away 3-1. To finish things off, Brett Poles came back and won his last two matches to win 3-2. As for the women, it would be a close match and come down to one game. Vasundhra VasanthanSofia Pinto Combita, and TaNiya Nored would all sweep their opponents 3-0 while Clara Braga would battle back and forth to beat her opponent 3-2. 

The evening wouldn't turn out to be just as good as both the men and women were defeated by Franklin and Marshall College (1-2). On the men's side, Sadek would be the only Cougar to win his individual match. As for the women, Braga and Pinto Combita would be the two Cougars to secure match wins. 

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow in Lancaster for the final day of the PA State Championship. The men have a double header starting at 9AM against Penn and then finishing the day against Drexel at 2PM. The women will finish their day tomorrow against Penn at 9AM.
