Hershey, PA - On Saturday, the Cougars played the second of a two-game home-and-home against Lebanon Valley. They fell in the second game by a final score of 4-0.
The Cougars started the first period competing with the Flying Dutchmen in a tight scoring and hard-fought period. Shots on goal were even throughout the first period, ending 10-6 in favor of Lebanon Valley. The Flying Dutchmen opened the scoring halfway through the frame. Chatham went into the first intermission narrowly trailing 1-0.
In the second period, the Flying Dutchmen quickly doubled their lead, scoring three minutes into the period. Lebanon Valley left the door open for Chatham as they took three minor penalties in a row. The Cougars were unable to convert on these chances, despite having four shots on goal across the second period power play opportunities.
The third period started with both teams trading chances. Lebanon Valley was able to break through, extending its lead to 3-0 after a power-play goal with 14:45 left on the clock. They would score an empty net goal later in the third to put the game out of reach.
Freshman goaltender Morgan Miller managed a 0.942 save percentage, only allowing 2 goals on 35 total shots. Junior Yana Samouilidis led the way on the offensive side with 4 shots on goal.
The women's hockey team will be back in action on Friday, November 7th, when they travel to Buffalo, NY, to play Buffalo State. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 pm.
