Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Last Minute Goal Gives Women's Soccer the Win Heading into Playoffs

HIRAM, OH - It was a game that didn't end until the last minute as the Chatham women's soccer team (10-6-2, 7-4 PAC) beat the Hiram Terriers (5-13, 2-9 PAC) 1-0.

With just four minutes left in the game, sophomore Elizabeth Gallup decided the Cougars were not ending the regular season with a tie. Fellow sophomore Sarah Vescio would serve a ball into the box that Gallup would settle and blast into the upper corner of the net.

Gallup wasn't alone in the Cougars offensive power as they racked up 10 shots on goal tonight against the Terriers. Four of those would come from senior Halle Marsalis, two from Gallup and sophomore Jorjanne Seaman, and one each from seniors Addison Llyod and Ainsley Smith. The Cougars also earned 10 corner kicks in the match while allowing Hiram none.

The Cougars back line would only allow the Terriers to get four shots on goal securing the shutout for sophomore goalkeeper Kyanni Escudero tonight.

With the win tonight, the Cougars have secured the #4 seed in the PAC Championship Tournament and home field advantage for the first round. They will be back in action this Saturday, November 1st, at UPMC Graham Field when they take on the #5 seeded Franciscan Barons at 1 PM in the PAC Quarterfinals.
