Women's Soccer Eliminated from PAC Championship Tournament in a Shootout

PITTSBURGH, PA - It came down to everything for the Chatham women's soccer team (10-6-3, 7-4 PAC) as they played a full 90, overtime, and went into a shootout. Unfortunately, their season and run in the PAC Championship Tournament came to an end as the Franciscan University Lady Barons (6-8-4, 5-3-3 PAC) got the better end of a shootout, winning 4-2.

It would be a rematch for the Cougars and the Lady Barons this afternoon, as they were both looking to advance to the PAC Semifinal. The Cougars would give everything they had, both offensively and defensively.

The Lady Barons would get nine shots on goal, but senior Halle Marsalis led the Cougars charge with three shots on goal. Senior Ainsley Smith would add a shot on goal of her own to give the Cougars any and all chances.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kyanni Escudero would make nine saves on the day and preserve one final shut out of the season.

After a full 90 the Cougars and Lady Barons were tied 0-0 and would head into overtime looking for a golden goal. Neither team would score, leaving the game final tied at 0-0. It would be the Lady Barons who edged a 4-2 shootout win to advance to the Semifinal.

The Cougars ended their season in an extremely hard fought 0-0 battle.
