WAYNESBURG, PA - It was a long night for the Chatham women's soccer team (8-4-2, 5-2 PAC) as they gave everything they had to try and overpower Waynesburg (10-1-2, 4-0-2 PAC).
It would be a battle down to the last minute between the Cougars and the Yellow Jackets. The Cougars would unfortunately come up short in a 2-1 loss tonight.
The Yellow Jackets would score both their goals in the first half, leaving the Cougars just 45 minutes to battle back. Senior
Halle Marsalis would get the Cougars on the board, with the assist going to fellow senior
Ainsley Smith, just 10 minutes into the second half to make it 2-1. Unfortunately, Marsalis' lone goal would be the only one the Cougars scored tonight.
While the Cougars were unable to tackle Waynesburg, they did not go out without a fight. They would total 10 shots on goal: six from Marsalis, two from sophomore
Elizabeth Gallup, one from Smith, and one from senior
Payton Massey.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Kyanni Escudero would make a total of five saves on the night.
The Cougars will be back at home at UPMC Graham Field this Saturday, October 18th, when they take on Grove City at 1 PM.
