Pennington '22 Named Head Cross Country Coach

PITTSBURGH - On Tuesday, Chatham Vice President of Athletics and Recreation Leonard Trevino announced that Chatham alumna Rebecca Pennington will become the new Head Cross Country Coach.

"I am happy to introduce Rebecca Pennington as our new Head Cross Country Coach, and I feel confident that Coach Pennington will move our programs forward," said Trevino.

Pennington, who will also be coaching distance runners for the Track & Field program, returns to Chatham after enjoying a successful running career and graduating in 2022 with a Bachelor's in Exercise Science. She qualified for the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships in 2018, becoming the first Chatham team or individual to qualify for an NCAA Championship.

Pennington was the individual PAC Cross Country champion in 2018 and won the PAC Championships Overall MVP award and Track MVP award for the 2019 Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field seasons.

"I am excited to take over the Women's and Men's Cross Country head coaching position at my alma mater," Pennington shared. "I am ready to see the program excel and achieve new accomplishments. I can't wait to see the program expand and increase performance in the PAC. I know how to win, and I am prepared to lead my athletes to do the same."
