WESTMINSTER, Md. - The Cougars suffered their fourth defeat to the McDaniel Green Terror (6-1) at Gill Stadium. Chatham trailed by as many as 11 before closing the gap in the fourth.
Freshman
Luke Iovino led the way for the Cougars with three points (2-1), while classmate
Tyler Laughlin also had two goals. Sophomore
Trent Griffin recorded one goal and one assist. Second-year men
Jacob Lubawy and
Alex Stanuikynas rounded out the scoring with one goal a piece.
Sophomore
Cody Randal recovered four ground balls and was active in the faceoff circle (7-10).
The first half saw the Cougars trail 9-2, with the two scores coming from Iovino and Lubawy.
The Green Terror opened the second half with four unanswered goals to extend their lead to 13-2. To start the fourth, Stanuikynas ended the scoring drought with an unassisted goal. McDaniel responded quickly, but the Cougars ended the game with a 4-1 scoring advantage.
Both teams went scoreless on extra man opportunities, and the shots favored McDaniel 50-22.
Chatham will host Brockport on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at UPMC Graham Field.
