Men's Lacrosse Picked to Finish Third in PAC Preseason Poll

TRAFFORD, Pa. - February 6, 2024 - On Tuesday, the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) released its Preseason Poll and Players to Watch for the 2024 Men's Lacrosse season.

With 45 points in the poll, Chatham was selected to finish third in the conference behind only Grove City and Saint Vincent. Since joining the PAC in 2019, the Cougars have been picked to finish in the top four in every preseason poll.

Five Cougars were placed on the preseason watchlist: senior Logan Blankenship, junior Thomas Curtin, junior Ethan Rinker, sophomore Trent Griffin and sophomore Jacob Lubawy.

Blankenship, who will serve as captain for the third consecutive season, played in all 16 games last season with 15 starts. He recorded 14 ground balls and caused five turnovers on his way to an All-PAC Second Team selection. 

Curtin played in all 16 games and made three starts last year at long-stick midfielder. He led the Cougars with 25 caused turnovers and was second on the team with 45 ground balls to earn an All-PAC honorable mention.

Rinker was also an All-PAC honorable mention, leading the team with 27 goals and totaling eight assists for 35 points. He also picked up 44 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers in 16 games.

Griffin made 13 starts and appeared in all 16 games, ending the year with 19 goals and nine assists for 28 points in addition to 20 ground balls.

Lubawy enjoyed an impressive freshman campaign that ended with PAC Newcomer of the Year honors. He finished with 21 goals and 19 assists for a team-leading 40 points to go along with 40 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

Men's Lacrosse starts the season at home on Feb. 17 when they host the Oberlin Yeomen.
