Women's Hockey Scheduled for UCHC Quarterfinal Against No. 2 Utica

Playoff Preview

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Cougars enter the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) playoffs as the seventh seed. They will travel to Utica, N.Y., to take on the No. 2 Pioneers in the UCHC Quarterfinal. 

Utica swept the season series against Chatham. The Cougars lost the series 12-2 on the scoreboard. 

Chatham finished the regular season with a 10-10-3 overall record and an 8-10-2 conference record. The Cougars outscored their opponents 56-52 and blocked the third most shots (309). Four players had double-digit points, with senior Ally Nolan finishing with the fifth most in the conference (29). Senior Allie Corser-James had a team-high 11 goals, and Nolan recorded a conference-high 20 assists. 

Utica ended the season with a 20-3-2 overall record and a 16-2-2 conference record. The Pioneers had the widest goal margin (114-26) due to their conference-leading save percentage (.947). Four Pioneers had 20 or more points, with two surpassing 30. Senior Hailey Modlin and graduate student Carolyn Whitney both had 32. Modlin was tied for second in the conference for goals with 17, while Whitney had a team-high 19 assists. 

The game time is 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the Nexus Center.
