PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The second day of the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships resulted in two Chatham losses to Franklin and Marshall. The women lost 4-5 to No. 2 Franklin and Marshall and the men suffered the same result to No. 5 Franklin and Marshall.
Senior
Sofia Ramos Fortanelli and sophomore
Basmala Syed Aref lost the opening matches for the women. The following four competitors (
Valentina Della Maddalena,
Vasundhra Vasanthan,
Clara Braga, and
Sofia Pinto) won their matches to take a 4-2 lead for the Cougars. Franklin and Marshall went on to win the next three to get the win.
For the men, sophomore
Sebastian Antonio Vaca Sanchez (11-8, 11-6, 11-5) got the first win for the men. Sophomore
Abdelrahman Walid Sadek (8-11, 11-7, 7-11, 13-11, 11-5), junior
Haidar Jafry (11-5, 10-12, 11-8, 7-11, 11-6) and sophomore
Alejandro Cruz (11-7, 11-8, 11-9) won the last three matches.
Both teams are done with the team championships. The CSA Individual Championships will start on March 8.
