PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Feb. 10, 2024 - Men's Hockey kept their playoff hopes alive by sweeping Manhattanville (8-15-0, 8-10-0) over the weekend. The Valiants forced 53 shots on goal compared to Chatham's 38, but freshman
Cameron Kuntar stood strong in goal. The Cougars have won three of their last four conference matchups and are three points ahead of ninth-placed Neumann.
Chatham was first to mark points in the game on a goal by senior
Liam Murphy. Assisting Murphy's first goal of the season was senior
Lucas Rothe and sophomore
True Crowe. The Cougars took the one-goal lead into the second.
Rothe was next to score off assists from junior
Matthew Doyle and sophomore
Oscar Saarinen. Chatham trailed 22-39 in shots on goal but held a 2-0 advantage entering the final period.
In the third, freshman
Kadsen Johnson found the back of the net with the help of juniors
Carson Grainer and Doyle. The shutout for Kuntar was lost after Manhattanville scored with 4:23 remaining.
In total, Kuntar made 52 saves on 53 shots, a career-high mark for the first year. Kuntar currently sits in ninth place for total saves (354) in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference.
Men's Hockey will travel to Rochester, N.Y. for two games against Nazareth starting on Friday at 7 p.m.
