WASHINGTON, Pa. - Chatham Men's Basketball (5-1, 4-0) remained undefeated in conference play after a thrilling 74-72 overtime win on the road against the Washington and Jefferson Presidents (4-2, 2-1) on Tuesday night at the Salvitti Family Gymnasium.
Luca Robinson led the Cougars with a 24-point, 12-rebounds double-double, which included a 4-4 night from beyond the arc.

Simon Boyer provided Chatham's first five points of the night, including a three-pointer to start off the scoring, and another three from Xavier allowed the Cougars to jump out to an 8-3 lead early on. Xavier and Boyer would continue working, with jumpers from each increasing Chatham's lead to 12-3 within the opening five minutes. Robinson knocked down a triple to give the Cougars a double-digit lead at 13:26, and then Pinkett sank back-to-back layups to make it 19-5. However, the Presidents would bounce back with a 12-2 run to cut it to 19-17 before another three from Robinson stopped the damage.Â
Robinson ended up scoring Chatham's last 15 points of the first half, bringing his total to 18 at the break, but W&J went into halftime with a 35-33 lead after ending the half on a 10-1 run. A 13-5 run to start the second half gave the Cougars a 46-40 lead at 14:24. W&J cut the lead to two before Pinkett connected on four straight free throws to grow the lead back to six. Two threes from
Easton Fulmer sparked another Chatham swing of 8-1, but the Presidents answered back with a 15-3 run to take a 63-61 lead with just over two minutes to play.
Another pair of free throws from Pinkett would tie the game at 63 with 1:50 to play, then he was sent to the foul line again where he converted both shots once more and gave Chatham a 65-63 lead with 34 seconds left. W&J tied the game with a layup on the ensuing possession, and Pinkett was unable to get a runner to fall at the end of regulation.
The Cougars took the first lead of overtime on a layup from Gartley, but the Presidents used a three-point play to jump ahead 68-67. Gartley netted two free throws to regain the lead, but another W&J bucket continued the lead changes. The Presidents increased their lead to 71-69 with a free throw with 2:27 left in OT before Pinkett buried a three with 36 seconds left to give the Cougars a one-point lead. Pinkett's three, which proved to be the difference, was Chatham's only field goal of the overtime period.
