WAYNESBURG, Pa. - January 6, 2024 - Chatham Men's Basketball (9-5, 7-2) earned a 76-71 victory over Waynesburg (7-7, 4-5) at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse on Saturday. The Cougars led from start to finish to earn their sixth consecutive PAC win.

Elijah Sutton led the Cougars with 18 points on 5-9 shooting from the field and 7-8 from the line. Sophomore guard
Diaun Pinkett secured his fifth double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Seniors
Simon Boyer and
Geoffrey Helm scored 17 and 16 points respectively and knocked down three treys a piece.
The Cougars started the game with a quick 7-2 advantage and led by 11 in the first half before a 12-4 run helped the Yellow Jackets cut the lead to just two. However, Chatham surged again with a 13-6 run of their own to end the half and go into the break leading 39-30. The Cougars were 12-13 from the free-throw line in the first half and held the Yellow Jackets to 0-3 from beyond the arc. A layup from Sutton five minutes into the second half once again gave the Cougars their 11-point lead, then the two teams traded 7-0 runs. They traded scores for roughly the next seven minutes, and Waynesburg was able to pull within four in the final seconds but could not pull off the comeback.
Chatham shot 42.9% from both the field (21-49) and from long range (9-21). The two teams each made 25 free throws, with the Cougars at 25-31 and the Yellow Jackets 25-32. Chatham held Waynesburg to 18.2% (2-11) from deep, which is the lowest three-point percentage by a Chatham opponent this season.
Men's Basketball will return to Pittsburgh on Wednesday when they face the undefeated Saint Vincent Bearcats.
