BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - January 17, 2024 - Chatham Men's Basketball (10-7, 8-4) fell to the Geneva Golden Tornadoes (15-2, 11-1) on Wednesday night at the Metheny Fieldhouse. Every player that saw the floor for the Cougars got onto the scoresheet, but only two players found their way to double-figures.
Sophomore guard
Diaun Pinkett netted 20 points on 8-11 shooting from the field and 3-4 from deep to lead the Cougars. Senior forward
Luca Robinson scored 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Junior guard
Blaine Gartley netted three points and contributed five assists with four steals.
The Cougars led 9-6 early on with buckets from Robinson, Pinkett and senior guard
Simon Boyer, but the Golden Tornadoes answered with a 20-8 run to take the lead, and they pushed that lead to double-digits minutes later. After facing an 11-point deficit, the Cougars battled back to pull within three points multiple times midway through the second half, but could not regain the lead. Geneva closed the game on a 13-5 run, including 7-8 from the free-throw line.
Chatham shot 42.2% (27-64) from the field in the game, but just 31.8% (7-22) from beyond the arc. Geneva, who came into the game with the highest three-point shooting percentage in the country, went 4-6 (66.7%) from deep.
Men's Basketball returns to the court Saturday when they take on the W&J Presidents in Washington.
