GROVE CITY, Pa. - April 15, 2023 - Chatham Women's Lacrosse defeated Grove City on the road Saturday afternoon by the score of 14-10. With the win, the Cougars are now 8-2 on the season, including 6-0 on the road, and 4-1 in the PAC. Eight wins in a season sets a new program record for Women's Lacrosse.
Chatham netted six goals in the opening frame, including two each from junior midfielders
Felicia Hutter and
Sam Beall-Dennell.
Each team scored just two goals in the second quarter, but Chatham's two goals came within just 16 seconds of each other and the Cougars took an 8-4 lead into halftime.
Chatham scored three times in the third quarter, including Beall-Dennell's third of the game.
Senior attacker
Selena Justus scored two goals for the Cougars in the span of 55 seconds in the fourth to build the lead to 13-8.
Beall-Dennell ended the day with six points on three goals and three assists and added seven ground balls and six draw controls. Justus and Hutter each tallied hat tricks as well. Hutter, the reigning PAC Rookie of the Week, now has four hat tricks on the season.
Sophomore goalie
Samantha Barrett made 24 saves in net, which is a new career-high and the most in a game for the Cougars since 2019.
Shots on goal were 34-19 in favor of the Wolverines.
Women's Lacrosse returns home Wednesday to face Allegheny.
