MEADVILLE, Pa. - December 31, 2023 - Chatham Men's Basketball (8-5, 6-2) got back in the win column on Sunday with a 92-79 victory on the road against the Allegheny Gators (5-7, 3-4). The Cougars have now won five consecutive conference games dating back to late November.
Senior guard
Simon Boyer led all players with 25 points on 8-18 shooting, including four threes. Sophomore guard
Diaun Pinkett netted 21 points with nine rebounds and four steals. Pinkett leads the PAC with 39 steals on the season. Graduate forward
Elijah Sutton notched his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds while adding two blocks. Senior forward
Luca Robinson also had 13 points with eight boards.
The Cougars used a 20-7 run in the middle of the first half to take a 16-point lead early on, but the Gators were able to cut the halftime lead to just nine. Boyer had 17 points in the opening half on 7-12 shooting with three triples. In the second half, Chatham kept Allegheny at a distance for all 20 minutes, as they never led by less than five points, which came thanks in part to a 94.4% (17-18) mark from the free-throw line.
The Cougars shot 44.6% (33-74) from the field, 38.1% (8-21) from beyond the arc and 90.0% (18-20) from the charity stripe. Chatham won the rebound battle 43-30. Both offenses took care of the ball with only 15 total turnovers in the game.
Men's Basketball returns Saturday with a road matchup against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets.
