STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - January 14, 2023 - Chatham Men's Basketball set multiple program records, including a new single-game high, in a 110-76 rout at Franciscan Saturday afternoon. The Cougars are now 9-7 on the season and 8-3 in the PAC.
The Cougars set a new program single-game scoring mark with its 110 points. Chatham eclipsed the previous record of 100, set against Saint Vincent on Dec. 1, 2021, with 4:26 left in the game. Chatham also broke the single-game program records for field goal percentage and field goals made, going 44-71 (62.0%). The previous mark for field goal percentage was 58.6% (34-58), set against Geneva on Jan. 11, 2017, while the previous record for made field goals was 40, also against Franciscan on Feb. 14 of last year. The Cougars got scoring contributions from 12 different players, including five in double figures.
Senior guard
Marcos Cintron seemingly couldn't miss, scoring 22 points on 10-11 shooting from the field and 2-2 from deep. Junior wing
Geoffrey Helm tallied 21 points including 10 in the second half. The Shippensburg transfer was 5-6 from deep and added five rebounds and four assists. Senior guard
Nick Fiumara scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, with all of them coming on three-pointers. Sophomore guard
Blaine Gartley scored eight points and dished out a team-leading eight assists.
Chatham opened the game on a 19-6 run and never slowed down on the offensive end. The Cougars scored 45 in the first half and then made 18 of their first 21 field goals in the second half. They lead by as many as 37 points in the second half. 34 points marks the largest win of the year for Chatham.
The Cougars were 17-30 (56.7%) from three-point range, setting season highs in made threes and percentage. Chatham out rebounded Franciscan by 19 (42-23) which was another season high.
Men's Basketball returns to the court Wednesday night as they travel to Beaver Falls to take on Geneva.
