Cougars Roll to Final Victory of Regular Season

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - February 19, 2022 - Chatham Women's Basketball traveled to Franciscan University this afternoon for their final regular season game. Despite a closer matchup than their first meeting, the Cougars came out on top of a 64-55 win.

Junior Riley D'Angelo shot her first of six good three-pointers to start the scoring for Chatham in the first. Classmate Sierra McClain would hit a three of her own before graduate student Maddy Grennes accumulated three points in succession. First-years Zelimar Rodriguez and Emily Durkee would both hit threes before graduate student Julianna Skowron got on the scoresheet. One final three from D'Angelo would give the Cougars a 20-15 lead heading into the second quarter.

D'Angelo would repeat her first quarter actions, being the only Cougar to score for the better part of the ten minutes. Rodriguez would hit her second three of the day, followed by Durkee with hers.

Up by just three points at the half, Skowron would go for two straight baskets to increase their margin. Senior Aliyah Labriola recorded her first point of the night on a free throw before Rodriguez was elevated to 12 points with two more three-point field goals.

The Cougars would have another 20-point quarter to round out the game. Grennes notched four straight points before D'Angelo added six again with just two shots. Durkee would hit double-digit points with two free throws and a layup, eventually adding Chatham's final two points at the charity stripe.

Riley D'Angelo led the Cougars with 18 points, followed by Zelimar Rodriguez and Emily Durkee with 12 apiece. First-year Aurielle Brunner and McClain would tie for a team-high three steals while Skowron and Durkee tied for three assists. Maddy Grennes had a game-high nine rebounds.
