Cougars Dominate at Home, Setting Two Team Records

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – February 14, 2022 – The Chatham men's basketball team did its best cupid impersonation on Valentine's Day, shooting the lights out of the Cougar Den and trouncing Franciscan 95-67. The win improves Chatham's record to 19-2 overall, tying the program's record for wins in a season, and 14-2 in PAC play.

The first half was business as usual for the Cougars, but the offense was in full throttle. It shot 56.8% from the field in the first half, tying the season high against a PAC foe for any half this year. This helped Chatham build up a 50-28 halftime lead, with the half-century mark being reached for the first time in the first half this season.

In the second half, the Cougars again built up a monstrous lead that ballooned to as many as 37. Many reserves saw action and contributed a flurry of points late in the contest in a variety of ways, including layups, three-pointers and jump shots. It was also the third best scoring output in Cougar history as Chatham won with ease 95-67.

For the game, Chatham shot an impressive 52.6% from the floor and set the program records with most field goals made in a game with 40 and assists in a game with 27. When all was said and done, 14 different players made baskets.

Leading the way offensively was senior Nick Bomar, who scored a career-high 16 points on 7-10 shooting with four steals. Junior Marcos Cintron had a baker's dozen points and senior Malik Potter scored 12 more with four blocks, overtaking the program's all-time career blocks leader with 57. Sophomore Simon Boyer pulled in seven rebounds and handed out a team-best six assists.

With two games remaining in the regular season, Chatham has a battle for first place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference looming on Wednesday, February 16 against Washington & Jefferson at 7:30.
