HENNIKER, NH - December 10, 2022 - Chatham Women's Hockey finished up their non-conference series this afternoon at New England College. The Cougars would make several comebacks to tie the game in regulation, and would come out on top of overtime.
The Pilgrims scored first, prompting two straight goals from the Cougars scored by junior Allison Corser-James and senior Brooke Almond. Assists were given to junior Ally Nolan, Almond herself, first-year Kayla Clark, and junior Lauren Carmody, respectively.
New England College would answer back for two in the second, but the Cougars would get on the board first in the third period on the power-play, with Corser-James teaming up with Almond and Nolan yet again.
The Pilgrims would score a power-play goal of their own to pull ahead, only for it to be equalized by Almond on another power-play five minutes later. Nolan again was credited with the primary assist as graduate student Ashley Marchant claimed the secondary.
With overtime forced, Nolan was ready to add a goal to her three-assist day. She found the back of the net with a wrist shot after skating a break-out pass from Marchant.
The win gave the Cougars the split with NEC after last night's 5-2 loss.
In goal, first-year Sam Brophy made 31 stops for her third victory of the season in just four starts.
The Cougars improve to 5-7-1 on the season thanks to the win. They return to conference play on Friday, January 6th, 2023 at Wilkes University.
