PITTSBURGH, Pa. - December 10, 2022 - Chatham Men's Basketball earned its largest margin of victory of the season Saturday afternoon against Mount Aloysius, beating the Mounties 99-70. With the win, the Cougars are now 5-4 on the year and remain 4-1 in PAC play.
Sophomore guard
Isaiah Smith led the team with 21 points, including 6-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Smith's 34 three pointers on the year are over double the next closest Cougar. Sophomore guard
Blaine Gartley was all over the stat sheet, scoring 15 points on 7-9 shooting and adding six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Freshman forward
James Thomas scored 12 points, marking his second-straight game in double figures. Guards

Brady Canfield each scored their first career collegiate points in the game, with eight, three and two, respectively.
After the Mounties scored the opening basket, the Cougars immediately went on a 15-2 run to take control of the game. Chatham led by as many as 17 in the first half and took a 13-point lead into halftime. In the second half, the Cougars did not let off the gas, leading by as many as 32 points. 99 points was the most the Cougars have scored in a game since Dec. 1 of last year, when they dropped 100 points on Saint Vincent.
The turnover battle was the story of the game, as the Cougars forced 26 turnovers and committed just eight. Chatham shot over 50% from the field for the second straight game and the third time this season, with a 51.3% (39-76) shooting performance.
The Cougars will face Carnegie Mellon on the road in an all Pittsburgh matchup on Dec. 20 at noon.
