GLENSIDE, Pa. - November 11, 2022 - Chatham Women's Hockey traveled east to face off against UCHC opponent Arcadia University tonight. After an eight-goal regulation and many chances for both teams in overtime, the Cougars would take the win in the eighth round of the shootout.
The Cougars would get off to a hot start thanks to junior Lauren Carmody and sophomore Rainey Jessup who scored within the first three minutes of the game. Both goals were their first of the season, and first-year Anabel Lota recorded her first collegiate point assisting on Jessup's goal.
Arcadia would score four straight goals in the first and second periods, meaning the Cougars had some catching up to do in order to stay alive.
First-year Maddie Lane would light the match the Cougars needed, scoring her first collegiate goal around the halfway point of the third. This gave the Cougars' first line the momentum to net the game-tying goal, which was tucked in by junior Ally Nolan, assisted by classmate Allison Corser-James and senior Brooke Almond.
With overtime forced, both teams had multiple offensive chances. Junior goaltender Lilly Rogers would make seven saves in the five-minute period, and the Cougars would register five of their own at the other end.
Rogers would go on to stop seven straight rounds of shooters before senior Fiona Danahy would go bar down for the lone goal of the shootout. Rogers stopped the eighth and final shot to end the game, adding them to her 35 from regulation and overtime.
Almond and junior Cameron Carmody both won a team-high 11 draws in the circle. Offensively, Corser-James and Nolan led the team in shots on goal with ten and nine respectively. Eight Cougars recorded points in tonight's matchup.
The Cougars look to close out their weekend with a second win tomorrow at 3:30 PM as they face off against the Knights once again.
