HUNTINGDON, Pa. - September 18, 2021 - Chatham Men's Soccer traveled to Juniata College for a non-conference matchup against the Eagles. Despite being down by one goal for over 40 minutes, the Cougars battled back in the second half to defeat the Eagles.
Chatham was scoreless in the first half against Juniata keeper Arun Subramanian, but their persistent offense was just a sign of what was to come. The Cougars wore the Eagles down from the start, resulting in eight Juniata fouls in the first half alone.
Despite the Eagles taking an early lead, first-year goalkeeper Nathaniel Esch had them frustrated by his crucial first-half saves.
Junior Leandro Nasso would put the Cougars on the board at the 60 minute mark, ending Juniata's 40-minute lead with help from classmate Emmet Taub. Chatham carried this momentum the rest of the game, taking several late fouls.
With a 1-1 tie and just one second remaining, Spencer Houck would score the heroic go-ahead goal to lift the Cougars over the Eagles.
Chatham finished with four shots on goal with two coming from senior Ryan Tahbaz to complement the goals of Nasso and Houck. In goal, Esch finished with five saves.
With the win, Chatham advances to 3-2-1 ahead of their next match at Penn State Behrend on Wednesday, September 22.
