PITTSBURGH, Pa. - March 30, 2021 - Women's Soccer hosted Geneva in their fourth conference matchup of the season. Despite a slow start, the Cougars came out on top with three goals, sending the Golden Tornadoes home with none.
First-year Malia Hinton was the first to strike for the Cougars, coming right off of the bench and taking advantage of a crossbar rebound from Genna Zeswitz. Hinton's first collegiate goal came with just two and a half minutes left to spare in the first half, giving the Cougars the momentum they needed to continue their offensive front into the second half.
Senior defender Kylie Redcay stepped just inside the 25 to boot Chatham's second goal, placed perfectly below the crossbar and out of reach of the Geneva goalkeeper.
Chatham secured one last goal to seal the deal with a header from Maggie Toomey in the final four minutes of the game.
The Cougars outshot the Golden Tornadoes 24 to two and had the only five corner kicks of the game. Chatham's aggressive style of play gave them the edge they needed to stay in offensive territory, finishing with a season-high eight fouls.
The win marks Chatham's fourth straight, continuing their undefeated shutout streak. The Cougars return to play on Monday, April 5th when they host conference rival Grove City at 7:30 PM.
