PITTSBURGH, Pa. - November 6, 2021 - Chatham Women's Hockey hosted Nazareth again today in a series-ending matchup. The Cougars would fall 4-0, improving from yesterday's 6-0 loss.
Senior goalie Katy Reed was busy early, facing 16 shots in the first period alone. She would hold them off until around the halfway point, when one of Nazareth's top scorers struck.
Chatham would receive a power play soon after, getting four shots off, all of which were unfortunately denied by Nazareth's Adrianna Brehm.
The Golden Flyers would come out strong in the second, taking advantage of the worn-down Cougars fresh off of a penalty kill to score two goals within a minute of each other.
Chatham would control the offensive scene in the beginning of the third period, with sophomores Cameron Carmody, Allison Corser-James, and Kaylynn Savoy each finding their way to the crease through the Nazareth penalty kill. When the play returned to even strength, Nazareth would net one last goal.
Corser-James led the Cougar offense with five shots, followed by Savoy with three and Carmody with two of Chatham's 16 total shots. Carmody would also lead the Cougars in face-off wins with 12.
First-year defenseman Samantha Barrett had a game-high three blocks while senior Grace Pavlovich and junior Brooke Almond contributed another two each.
Reed would end the game with 44 saves, including a game-high 17 in the second period.
The Cougars now stand at 0-4 overall, 0-2 in conference. Their next series commences on Friday, November 12th when they host new conference member Arcadia University.
